He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Melaas and Eldora Melaas (Waagen); his son Leon; and his cousins, Scott Waagen, Leland Oksendahl and Randy Melaas.
He is survived by: his children, Lucas of Devils Lake, ND, Brian (Michelle) of Berthold, ND, Lyman (Skyla) of Devils Lake, ND and Ellie (Riley Reinholt) of Bismarck, ND; his wife Charlene Beckendahl; his grandchildren, Lucas J., Erika and Elyse; his children, Ian, Nadia, Micah, Zander and Lyla; and his siblings, Marvin of Maddock, ND, Robert of Walhalla, ND, Gloria of Mankato, MN, David of Maddock, ND and Elaine Koble (David) of Fargo, ND. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery: 4163 52nd Avenue NE Maddock, ND 58348.
