He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Hvinden and Cecelia Hvinden (Bergsgaard); his wives, Lorraine Holje and Lillian Olson-Severtson; his sister Delores Stenberg; his siblings-in-law, Donald Stenberg, Marvin Holje (Carol), Stanley Olson, Sherman Olson, Palmer Georgeson and Phyllis Carrigan; and his cousin Gordon Arne (Mavis).
He is survived by: his children, Steven Hvinden (Sandra) of Boulder City, NV, James Hvinden (Jonelle) of Maddock, ND, Sandra Hoffner (Jacob) of Yankton, SD, Susan McFerran of Mesa, AZ and Mark Hvinden (Connie Hamilton) of Fargo, ND; his stepchildren, Robert Severtson and Sally Severtson Mix (Keith); his close friend Delores Lautt of Harvey; his grandchildren, Shane Hvinden (Jennifer), Stephanie Lee (Joshua), Stacey Steele (Jeremy), Eric Hvinden, Miranda Hvinden, Aprille Luger (Matthew), Joshua Hoffner (Anna Jo), Adam Hoffner (Melissa), Matthew Hoffner, Deidre Jensen (Vincent) and Rachel McFerran; his great grandchildren, Zoey Hvinden, Judah Hvinden, Ezekiel Hvinden, Isaac Hvinden, Ava Hvinden, Mackenzie Hvinden, Elias West, Coraline West, Elise Steele, Xavier Steele, Madeline Luger, Esmae Luger, Miles Hoffner, Archie Hoffner, Nathan, Carter Jensen and Isabella McFerran; his stepgrandchildren, Aric, Dusty, Annie, Shelby and Trevor; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Leroy, Bradley, Lena, George, Lewis, Kasyn, Kody and Ruby; and his brother-in-law David Holje (Jane).
