He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Johnson and Gjerdie Johnson (Hagen); and his sisters, Connie Grindy Camandona and Jan Grindy Johnson. He is survived by: his former wife Kathleen Custer of Belfield, ND; his grandchildren, Nels Robert Johnson and Mae Michael Johnson; his sons, Chad Johnson and Todd Johnson (Amanda); and his siblings, Larry Grindy (Joan), Wayne Grindy (Marguerite), Lee Johnson and Lavinia Smith (Bill). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
