He was predeceased by: his parents, Ransom and Beatrice; his sister Dorothy Mathiesen; his brother-in-law Duane Mathiesen; his nephew David Mathiesen; and his niece Renee Marable.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Mallinger of Lidgerwood; his daughter Janet Bell (Tim) of Wyndmere; his grandchildren, Adam Bell (Jackie) of Aaron Bell, Paula Halvorson (Steve) of Lawton, ND, Allison, Evan, Hannah, Jill Vining (Brad) of Aberdeen, SD, Casey and Jarrett; and his sister Marjorie Hook (Karl) of Bountiful, Utah. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
