He was predeceased by: his parents, Mederic Chaput and Laura Chaput (Marcelin); his wife Ruth Fischer; his son Stacey; his grandson Louis; and his siblings, Eva Moos, Leona Johnson, Sylveo Chaput, Hilda Wilhelmi, Annette Prince, George Chaput, Marie Everson and Thomas Chaput.
He is survived by: his children, Kim Chaput (Terian) of Langdon, ND, Bonnie Walker (Johnny) of Grand Forks, ND, Sherry Huber (Eddie) of Devils Lake, ND and Joann Remer (Jim) of Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren, Jason Chaput (Lexi), Amanda Seykora (Jason), Marie Mack (Bill), Beckie Erdmann (Adam), Carrie Hope (Nyk), Alex Chaput (Vanessa), Justin Walker (Ken), Brittany Walker, Michael Huber, Stacy Wolf (Kolby), Michele Remer and Jessica Remer; and his brother Mederic Jr..
