She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Adolf and Annie Etterman (Penner); her former husband Paul Ratzlaff; her sons, Jerry Ratzlaff (Nancy) of Devils Lake, ND, Steven Ratzlaff (Denise) of Wales, ND and Michael Ratzlaff (Tara) of Lake Bronson, MN; her grandchildren, Wolfgang, Annie of Tacoma, WA, Dustin, Brock of Devils Lake, ND, Krystal of Fargo, ND and Serena of Grand Forks, ND; her great grandchildren, August and Olive of Tacoma, WA; her siblings, Paul Etterman (Marie), James Etterman (Karen), Simon "Pete" Etterman (Delores) and Annie Bergley (Leonard); her sister-in-law Eileen Etterman (Richard); her husband Preceding; her son Douglas; her granddaughter Ashley; and her siblings, Edwin Etterman (Irene), Herb Etterman (Anna), Richard Etterman (Eileen), Arthur, Philip, Gertrude Wellman (Walter) and Ruth Steen (Ronald). She was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.

She also volunteered for many years with the American Cancer Society and the Legion Auxiliary.
