He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Schmidt and Fannie Schmidt (Lubbers); his half-brother Russell Falter (Louise); and his brother-in-law John Olson. He is survived by: his wife Min; his children, Kent Schmidt (Melissa), Dean Schmidt (Christine) and Heather Legge (Evan); his stepson Lu Lu; his grandchildren, Jacob Schmidt, Joshua Schmidt, Makala Schmidt, Brennen Schmidt, Ella Legge, Anna Legge and Rex Legge; and his half-sister Virginia Olson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
