We are sad to announce that on May 5, 2020, at the age of 87, Russell Schmidt (Lakota, North Dakota) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertrude Schmidt and Erwin H. Schmidt; his son Robert Carl; and his siblings, Kenneth Schmidt, Curtis (Charlotte Schmidt), Dinnie Schmidt, Mickey (Frieda Schmidt), Lois (Curtis Ellenson), Eileen (Deloy Kiefat) and Donna Mae Schmidt.
He is survived by: his wife Diane V. Kroke August; his children, Marilyn Behm (Roger), Joyce Magnus (Mark), Evy Olson (Eric), Donald Schmidt (Michelle), Russ Schmidt and Brian Schmidt (Mary); his great grandchildren, Chris Behm (Kellie), Shelby Zach (Tom), Nicholas, Holly Bergh (Casey), Kaden, Taylor, Megan, Lindsay Austfjord (Josh), Emma, Lilly, Lucy, Beau, Matt Magnus (Laura), Paige, Tracy Magnus, Alycia, Katie, Morgan Olson, Kayla Schmidt, Trinity, Jaxon, Brandon Schmidt, Peyton, Maverick, Breanne, Jase and Blake Schmidt; his great great grandchild Allie Zach; his siblings, Lloyd Schmidt (Dorcas), Ervy Schmidt (Judy) and Janice Schmidt; his sister-in-law Gilma Schmidt; and his friend Norman Severson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be private with military honors and interment at Michigan Cemetery. Due to Covid-19, a celebration of life will be held at a future date.
