He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Ewert and Pauline Ewert (Drager); and his siblings, Josephine, Edward, Lawrence, Caroline, Leo, George, Arthur, Alfred (Fritz), Elizabeth, Walter, Margaret and Hazel.
He is survived by: his wife Irene Martian of Lakota, ND; his children, Richard Ewert Phoenix, Pam Ewert of Devils Lake, Pat Ewert of Devils Lake and Terri Gunderson (Roger); his grandchildren, Seth Ewert, Kelcee Ewert, Christian Ewert (Layla) of Devils Lake, Laura Ewert of Mayville, ND, Allison Ewert, Mitchel Ewert, Draven Ewert, Stephanie Yager (Tim) and Elizabeth Gibbons (Ryan) of Devils Lake; his great grandchildren, Aiden, Mason, Tysen, Malina Ewert, Avery, Kayden Yager and Kalila Gibbons; and his sister Ruth Schmaltz.
