He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Rustad and Merle Rustad (DeVan); and his brother Speed. He is survived by: his wife Janice Ylvisaker; his children, Rock (Georgeann) of Kindred, Rick of Kindred, Rochelle of Kindred and Ronda Alvarez of Kindred; his grandchildren, Alaetra Alvarez (Aaron Davis) of Ray, ND, Austin Alvarez, Arianna Alvarez of West Fargo, Zoe Alvarez Praus (Dillon) of Dickinson, Sara Rustad Hopfauf (Tyler) of Mandan and Rina Rustad of Kindred; and his great grandchildren, Bo Priewe, Dusty Hopfauf of Mandan and Baby Praus.
The Cowboy Hall of Fame was truly one of Don's biggest passions over the years which he supported with donations and memorials.
