He is survived by: his daughter Katie Mergenthal Blanchette (Joe) of Prior Lake, MN; his stepson Joshua Swift (Cassie) of Ansley, NE; his grandchildren, Ellie, Hudson of Prior Lake, MN, Blakley and Greylen of Ansley, NE; his mother Ruth Ward Nilson (Maxwell) of Moorhead, MN; and his siblings, Lee Ward of Lisbon, ND, Kimberly Castleman (Gordon) of Kindred, ND and Janine Haugen (Brian) of Fargo, ND. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
