He is survived by: his parents, John Schmit and Ann Marie Schmit (Hammerschmidt); his brother Jerome Schmit (Mary) of Redwood Falls; and his sister-in-law Harriet Schmit of Springfield. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.
