He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Schumacher and Catherine Schumacher (Horner); his spouse Leopoldina Mack; his former wife Esther Schmidt; his great grandchild Chevelle; and his stepson Jake Schmidt.
He is survived by: his children, Joe Schmidt (Jeannie) of Jamestown, ND., Julie Baker (Dave) of Rapid City, SD., Cindy Schmidt (Randy Sikveland) of Glendive, MT. and Cody Schmidt of Sioux Falls, SD.. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
