He is survived by: his wife Nora; his children, Fred (Kamie) of Le Mars, IA, Mark (Roxanne) of Las Vegas, NV, Robert (Candace) of Jamestown, ND, Steve (Rachel) of Fargo, ND and Debbie Stitzer of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren, David Gums (Kathy), Marie Arduser (Shannon), Andy Gums (Nicole), Lucas Gums (Eulalia), Robbie Stitzer (Christy) and Jennifer Petrie (Brad); and his brother Lloyd Gums. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
