He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Gienger (Perman) and Edward Gienger; and his brother Donald. He is survived by: his siblings, Judith Hoeglund of Detroit Lakes, MN, Gerald (Ann) of Erie, CO and Eugene. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In 2017, the University of Jamestown celebrated the opening of the Harold Newman Arena and Dennis Gienger Gymnasium, recognizing Dennis for his significant contributions to the University.
