He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert R Mitzel and Augusta Mitzel (Berndt); his parents-in-law, Richard and Ramona Waldie; his brother Oliver Mitzel; his sister-in-law Patricia Brandt; his son-in-law Brian Sorum; and his nieces, Susan Snyder and Monica Brandt.
He is survived by: his wife Roxanne Waldie; his children, Jennifer Sortland (Kevin) of Jamestown, ND, Casey Mitzel (Candy) of Tigard, OR, Heather Mitzel and Amber Sorum of Oakes, ND.; his grandchildren, Haley, Brady, Adam Sortland, Kynzey, Konner Mitzel, Grace Mitzel, Jackson and Weston Sorum; his siblings, Robert C Mitzel (Marge) of Virginia Beach, VA, Bernice Fuder (Bruce) of Breckenridge, MN and Ralph; and his siblings-in-law, Rita Greer of Marion, ND and Spencer Brandt of Dickey, ND. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
