He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Norris Mustad and Doris Mustad; his adoptive father Lawrence Thompson; his wife Janice Backer; his daughters, Naomi Benson (Michael) and Nikki Johnson (Joel); his grandchildren, Ben, Nate Aufman, Zack, Noah, Josh and Amara Miller; his siblings, Vernon Thompson (Marcia), Harlan Johnson (Rita), Dennis Johnson (Melody), Lois Peterson (Jerry) and Betty; his brother-in-law Jack Shull; and his nephew Chad Johnson. He was also cherished by many sisters and brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
