He was predeceased by: his parents, Maidda Hertwig (Bettermann) and Adolph C. Hertwig; his siblings, Roy, Carl Hertwig, Edna Brasel and Bertha Seim; and also, Bertha, Jeanie, Carl Brasel and Lowell Seim.
He is survived by: his wife Imogene Bye; his children, Larry Hertwig, Jerry Hertwig Susie Miller (Vic), Janet Mitzel (Kirk) and John Hertwig (Diane); his grandchildren, Karie Kowalski (Stan), Pennie Reinke (Dennis), Cindy Dullum (Derek), Christy Strandberg (Nick), Killian Miller, Anthony Mitzel (Megan), Monica Lang (Tyler), Kirsten Lindsey (Matt), Priscilla Dunham (Nick), Andy Hertwig, Ashley Hertwig-Frieler (Jacob) and Evan Hertwig; and his brother Robert Hertwig (Rosalie). He is also survived by 20 great granchildren, soon to be 21, and 1 great great granchild.
