He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Smith and Abigayle Smith (Yunker); his grandmothers, Lottie Smith and Alma Yunker; his sons, Locke and Cliff; his siblings, James Smith and Jeanette Stephens (Lee); his brothers-in-law, Bud Buchmann, Bill Russell and Ray Maershbecker; his nephews, Lonnie Russell and Charles Russell; his great-nephew Jay Folkins; and his great-niece Brittney Buchmann.
He is survived by: his wife Sally Russell; his children, Mack Smith, Annette Gappert (Bruce) and Russell Smith (Robyn); his grandchildren, Ashley, James, Kortnie (Cory), Kyle, Karly, Dillon, Kaela (Mike), Lukas and Katelyn (Jordan); his daughter-in-law Jessie Smith; his sisters, Donna Maershbecker, Carol Russell and Jodene Brown (John); and his sister-in-law Jane Clayton. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
