He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas J. McMahen and Helen McMahen (Knutson); his parents-in-law, Frank and Lena Martin; and his brothers, Gerald "Jerry" McMahen and Jeff McMahen.

He is survived by: his wife Sandy Martin; his children, Chris McMahen (Amy) and Tinka McMahen; his grandchildren, Shyann, Mikenna and Landon; his sisters-in-law, Carol and LaDonna McMahen; and his sisters, Sharon Wisenberger (Tom) and Peggy Gegelman (Jim).
