He is survived by: his mother Patricia Petermann (Roberts); his wife Shari Kristina Myszka; his sons, Briar Petermann, Jon Petermann, Nick Petermann and Mathew Buckley; his stepson Nic Myszka; his siblings, Sandra Benedict (Lyle), Dorothy Petermann Onchuck, Michael Petermann, Lucinda Thiel (Bill) and Scott Petermann (Shannon); and his half-brother Timothy Petermann.
He participated in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Til Valhalla Project, and Marine Corp. Heritage Foundation.
