He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Yon and Burdell Yon (Swensrud); and his wife Margaret Yon. He is survived by: his children, Kevin Yon (Pam) of Gilby, ND, Roxanne Schmitz (Jeff) of Mekinock, ND, Kim Gapp (Lyle) of Fisher, MN and Robyn Yon (Nancy) of Thompson, ND; his grandchildren, Nicole (Dustin), Nathan, Nick (Ellie), Kyle, April, Nadine, Paul (Sophie), Sam (Avery), Mike, Jackson, Joshua, Charlie and Vaya; his great grandchild Bjorn Schmitz; and his siblings, Lillian Pladson (Graydon), Marlene Korynta (Dale), Tom Yon (Vivian) and Bonnie Carroll.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Amundson Funeral Home (2975 S 42nd St, Grand Forks, ND 58208). A prayer was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM and at 11:00 AM at the Hope Church (1601 17th Ave S, Grand Forks, ND 58201).
