He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Schanilec and Elizabeth Schanilec (Dusek); and his siblings-in-law, James Kiedrowski, James Ganyo, Richard Ganyo, Jerome Ganyo and Lois Ann Melland.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine Ganyo; his son Anthony of Grafton; and his sisters, Frances Kiedrowski of Minneapolis, MN and Alexia Klava (Leo).
