He was predeceased by: his parents, James Denis and Virginia Denis (Roden); his daughter Elizabeth; his siblings, Jay Denis, Angie McCloskey and Marcy Angstman; his grandparents, Joseph, Margaret Denis, Stewart and Vivian Roden; his stepfathers, Ed Merrill and Tom Grady; his father-in-law Vernon Althoff; and his brother-in-law Greg Stephens.

He is survived by: his wife Sandy; his son Nicholas; his brother Chris Denis (Mary) of Argusville, ND; his mother-in-law Joanne Althoff of Mooreton, ND; and his siblings-in-law, Pat Stephens of Brooklyn Center, MN, Dale Althoff (Cindie) of Mooreton, ND and Terry Althoff (Sara) of Apple Valley, MN. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
