He was predeceased by: his parents, Elvin Stenvold and LaVanche Stenvold (Erickson); his sisters, Lindee Larsen and Kandace Loken; and his nephew Wade Haake.
He is survived by: his son Matthew Nieuwsma; his sister Randie Haake (Dale); his brothers-in-law, Merle Loken and Gary Larsen; and his nieces and nephews, Wendy Lemberg (Wes), Allyson Haake, Dana Kuzel (Brad), Nashel Rick (Jake), Chris Haake, Brady Larsen (Janet), Aaron Loken (Hannah) and Andy Haake (Abby).
