We bid farewell to Irene F. Backlund of Fargo, North Dakota, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 1, 2025 at the age of 98. Irene touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Irene leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Hatlestad and Myrtle Hatlestad (Mattson); her husband Wallace Backlund; and her sister Clarice. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church (613 16th St S, Fargo, ND 58103). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sons of Norway or to a charity of your choice.
