He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Nelson and Frances Nelson (Miller); his son Jeffrey Craig Nelson; his close friend MaryAnn Vise; and his siblings, Dianne, Doug and Gloria.
He is survived by: his brother Kenneth Nelson (Jean); his wife Janice Irene Thompson; his daughters, Pamela Jane Kinslow (Nelson) and Lara LeAnn Danielson (Nelson); his stepchildren, Rick Vise (Sue), Jim Vise and Kathy Soffett (Steve); and his pet Amber (Honey Bunny). He is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
