He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Kirchhevel and Emma Kirchhevel (Ruck); his brothers, Bernard Kirchhevel and Arnold Kirchhevel; and his parents-in-law, Mavis Pederson and Vernon Pederson.

He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Kirchhevel of Fargo, ND; his children, Kristi Hamilton (John) of Sioux Falls, SD, Peter Kirchhevel (Dawn) of Arlington, SD and Jenni Peters (Mitch) of West Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Justin Kirchhevel (Lindsie), Quinn Hamilton and Charley Peters; his great grandchild Riggins Kirchhevel; his stepgrandchildren, Quade Peters, Danielle Janssen (Will) and Taylor Schultz; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Mauer, Riya, Jaelynn, Mason and Sutton; his brother Maynard Kirchhevel (Luetta); and his sisters-in-law, PJ Turner (Terry) and Nancy Leisure (Derek). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
