He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Knodel and Amelia Knodel (Melhoff); and his sister Violet Barone. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Knodel; his children, David Knodel (Nancy), Susan Ness (Randal) and Janet Knodel (Patrick); his granddaughters, Mia Kozitka (Paul), Marissa Knodel (Raphael Tisch) and Evelina Knodel; and his siblings, Norman Knodel (Helen) and Kathie Schiermeister. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
