He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Kurtz and Agnes Kurtz (Stach); and his parents-in-law, Grace Ann and Loren Kutter. He is survived by: his wife Sally Kutter; his son Colby; his granddaughter Amara; his stepfather AJ Kuntz; and his siblings, Richard Kurtz, Steve Kurtz (Sara Abel), Timothy Kurtz (Sherri), Ken Kurtz (Lisa), Carl Kurtz (Nicole) and Barbara Kurtz (Brent Osborne). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephew and friends.
