He was predeceased by: his parents, Gotthielf Widmer and Alvina Widmer (Bartel); his wife Luise Widmer; and his stepdaughter Elenor Craig. He is survived by: his brother Edgar Widmer; his stepson George Plaut; his sons, Joshua Plaut and Christopher Plaut; and his grandchildren, Macie and Martina. He is also survived by three nephews.
