He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Koenig and Anna Koenig (Haag); his brother Gary Koenig; his siblings-in-law, Robert Wetch, Vernon Rekow, Clifford Koehler, Violet Rekow, Marlys Orth and Corrine Koehler; his niece Melissa Wetch; his nephew Armond Glassford; his parents-in-law, Elsie and Albert Rekow; his uncle August; and his aunt Rose Meidinger.
He is survived by: his wife Sharon Koenig (Rekow) of Elgin, ND; his children, Cheryl Koenig of Carson, ND and Wade Koenig (Melissa) of Fargo, ND; his grandchildren, Shawn Miller, Jessica Edinger and Haven Koenig; his great grandchildren, Clayton and Theodore Miller; his sisters, Myrna Wetch of Bismarck, ND and Kathi Lacis of New Salem, ND; and his brother-in-law Willie Orth of Rapid City, SD. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
