He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Mattson and Agnes Mattson (Nelson); his wife Joann Votava; his sons, Toby and Troy; his daughter-in-law Kelly Mattson; and his siblings, Garfield, Elton, Benjamin, Arlyn, Clayton, Darrell, Larry, Curtis, Mildred Marier, Virginia Livingood, Betty Ann Cooper and Judy Morgan.
He is survived by: his children, Todd Mattson of Drayton, ND and Tracy Young (Dan) of Park River, ND; his grandsons, Jonathan Mattson (Vanessa) of Grand Forks, ND and Michael Young of Fargo, ND; and his great grandchildren, Aubree and Odin Mattson.
