He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Kunkel and Grace Kunkel (Burt); his wife Julie Dykhoff; his siblings, Floyd Kunkel and Fern Christesen; and his siblings-in-law, Izzy Rafferty, Ester Falk, Theresa Woolsy, Lyle, Lawrence, Louis and Carl Dykhoff.
He is survived by: his son-in-law Lanny Gulseth; his great grandchild Keegan; his children, Scott Kunkel (Debra) of Moorhead, MN, Dr. Steven Kunkel (Robin), Susan Yanis (Michael), Sydney and Sheree Gulseth (Lanny); his grandchildren, Judd Kunkel (Alex), Tyler Kunkel (Kylie), Sean Kunkel (Ashlie), Matthew Kunkel (Margaret), Christopher Kunkel (Amanda), Misty Streed, Jesse Fortune, Jonathan Fortune (Deni), Wendy Gulseth (Josh Burdick) and Kyle Gulseth (Sara); his great grandchildren, Jadeveon, Alexis, Alise, Brooke, Hannah, Madelyn, Braden, Brianna (Erik), Tavian, Tristin, Jaidyn, Harper, Scout and Gabe; his great great grandchildren, Kylen and Grayson; his sisters-in-law, Doris Mueller (Don) and Carol Coyer (Dave); and also, Herb and Ester. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid concerns, a private family burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 at 1:00pm in the Devils Lake Cemetery with Reverend Michael Suezlzle officiating.
