He was predeceased by: his parent Christine Volk; his stepfather Bill Weisbeck; his daughter Shirley Kienast; his grandson Jason Volk; and his stepbrother Peter Weisbeck.
He is survived by: his wife Mary E. Bachmeier; his children, James Volk of Devils Lake, Betty Eversvik (Daniel) of Devils Lake, Ron Volk (Kathy) of Devils Lake, Joyce Rummer (Werner) of Devils Lake, Larry Volk (Rebecca) of Devils Lake and Dale Volk of Devils Lake; his son-in-law James Kienast of Arizona; and his half-sister Dorothy Weigel. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.
