We are sad to announce that on January 24, 2025, at the age of 64, Henry L. Mertens Jr. of Devils Lake, North Dakota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Mertens and Ann Mertens Sr. (Burckhard); his sisters, Joyce Mertens and Carol Mertens; his niece Leslie Erickson; and his sister-in-law Sheila Mertens.
He is survived by: his siblings, Barbara Erickson (Richard) of Auburn, WA, Robert Mertens of Lakota, ND, Don Mertens of Devils Lake, Dennis Mertens (Julie) of Devils Lake, Tom Mertens (Diane) of Devils Lake and Tim Mertens of Devils Lake; and his nieces and nephews, Lance Erickson, Brandon Mertens (Kelsey), Ryan Mertens, Lucas Mertens (Bobbie), Rebecca Rygg (Derrick), Benjamin Mertens (Haley), Stephanie Nelson (Tyler), Nathan Mertens (Haley), Jacob Mertens (Emma), Jessica Mertens and Brett Mertens. He is also survived by great nieces and great nephews; several dear aunts, uncles and many beloved cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Gilbertson Funeral Home (509 U. S. Rte 2, Devils Lake, ND 58301). A funeral service was held on Sunday, February 2nd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location. A Mass was held on Monday, February 3rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (517 4th St NE, Devils Lake, ND 58301).
