He was predeceased by: his parents, Elwin James Sears and Elna Mabel Sears (Pierson); his son Joel Andrew Sears; and his parents-in-law, Holger and Ida Olson.
He is survived by: his wife Ginny; his son David of Minnewaukan; his grandchildren, Tyler (Sam) of Minnewaukan, Quentin of Minnewaukan, Spencer of Minnewaukan and Madyson of Fargo, ND; his sons, Jim of Denver, CO and Jerry (Miaa); his grandchildren, John (Jess) of Australia, Katherine of Lewistown, MT and Emily of Montgomery, AL; his daughter Mary of Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren, Gabe, Chantelle, John, Jr., Brandon and Shania; his brother Rodney; his half-sister Lynne Reister of Seattle, WA; and his brothers-in-law, John Olson of Fargo, ND and Mike (Cindy Moe) of Devils Lake. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
