He was predeceased by: his parents, John Nygaard and Olga Nygaard (Nelson); his wife Elaine; and his siblings, Julane (George Haugland), Ethel (Alan Spooner), Avis Dissell (Fred Dissell), Luella (Elwood Oien), Irene (Manning Beasley) and Vernon (Glenda Nygaard).
He is survived by: his brothers, John Nygaard (Peg) and Lloyd Nygaard of Crosby; his stepdaughter Cheryl Aslakson (Jeff Flynn) of Michigan; his stepgranddaughters, Amy and Rebecca; his stepchildren, John Aslakson (Lorrie) of Colorado and Ann Aslakson (Karen Claeys) of Washington; and his stepgrandchildren, Tyler Twitchell and Kelsey Twitchell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be given to the Northern Lights Villa.
