He was predeceased by: his son Brian; and his siblings, Donna Sapa, Robert Olafson, Donald Wayne, Karen Elizabeth and Linda Darlyne.
He is survived by: his children, Alan Olafson (Dana) of Edinburg, ND and Melanie Kelley; his grandchildren, Chad, Brock and Bailey; and his brothers, Roger Olafson (Marilyn) of Edinburg and Curtis Olafson (Bjork) of Edinburg. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
