He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Long and Beulah Long (Patrie). He is survived by: his wife Patti; his children, Josh Nannenga (Susan) of Harvey, Faye Kusler (Shad) of Mandan, Devin Long (Melanie), Bowdon Long and Travis Long (Brittany); and his sisters, Mary Ellen Dockter (LeRoy) of Fargo, Eileene Swardstrom (David) of Naperville, IL and Alice Westby (John) of Bismarck. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
