He was predeceased by: his parents, Simon Brackenbury and Elsie Brackenbury (Mahin); his in-laws, Clifford and Lucille Kleve; his siblings, Rosella, Harriet, Everett and Floyd; and his siblings-in-law, Harvey and Betty Wolf.
He is survived by: his wife Janet; his children, Teri Leier (Bill), Wayne Brackenbury (Clarissa) and Alan Brackenbury (Sue Koch); his grandchildren, Shania Olson (Spencer) of Mohall, Connor Brackenbury of Mohall and Calli Brackenbury of Mohall; and his child Zach Brackenbury of Bismarck.
