He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Paul Krom and Dorothy Krom (Theison); and his sister Shirley. He is survived by: his wife Karan O'Connell; his children, Robert Joseph Krom (Lisa), Justin Paul Krom (Laurie), William Wilson Krom and Ashley Angel Krom; his grandchildren, Robert Krom, Parker Krom, Jack Gibson, Charlie Gibson, Chelsa Krom and Ella Krom; and his siblings, Theresa Lang and Donald Krom.
In lieu of plants and flowers memorials are preferred to the Bismarck Cancer Center.
