He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Magstadt and Pauline Magstadt (Pudwill); his wife Sylvia L. Salchert; and his sisters, Erma Magstadt and Meta Brady (Darrell) of Rapid City, SD..
He is survived by: his children, Karen Buchholz (Don DiScioscia) of Poquoson, VA and Kevin Magstadt (Kathy Robinson); his granddaughters, Christina Yoder (Brad) of Hampton, VA and Tiffany Gillispie (Shawn) of Poquoson, VA; his great grandchildren, Mason, Kaeden Yoder, Ryder, Maddex and Jax Gillispie; his nieces and nephews, Judith Hoel, Janet Pettis, Rodney, Michael Brady, Tim, John and Geoffrey O'Connor; and his great-niece Holly Hoel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. George's Episcopal Church, Bismarck, or the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
