He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen (North Dakota); his siblings, Tim (Minnesota), Terry Hickey (Minnesota), Peter Hickey (Florida) and Colleen Schindele (Arizona); his son John Hickey (Illinois); his stepdaughter Vanessa Briltz (Saskatchewan); and his granddaughter Hailey Briltz (Saskatchewan). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
