We are sad to announce that on December 10, 2023, at the age of 94, Melvin Mertz of Bismarck, North Dakota passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Reinhold Mertz and Frieda Mertz (Wanner); his wife Helen; his sister Esther Opp; and his brothers-in-law, Reiny Opp, Clint Rau, Darrel Veil and Gideon Boschee.
He is survived by: his children, Melva Haag (Conrad) of Center, ND, Myron, Glen Ullin, Mervyn Bismarck (Judy), Maynard Fargo (Colleen), Lonny Linton (Stephanie), Lyndon Mandan (Mona) and Loryn Bismarck (Jodi); and his siblings, Allean Boschee, Alvin Mertz (Edna), Quentin Mertz (Arlyss), JoAnne Gauper (Larry), Bernice Rau and Sandy Olsgard (Lloyd). He is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
