He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Kiefer and Magdalena Kiefer; his parents-in-law, Jake and Pauline Thurn; and his siblings-in-law, Deli, Joe Masseth and John Thurn.

He is survived by: his wife Marion; his son Josh; his grandson Jamie; his daughter Jenn (Eric Andrews); his grandson Rowan; and his siblings, Leo (Angie), Richard, Jennie Masseth and MaryAnn Hildebrandt (Carroll).
