He is survived by: his children, Michael Schaeffer (Bonnie) of Carthage, MO, Sherri Ogden (Randy) of Bismarck and Kim Brandt (Doran) of Hazen; his sister Eloise Vietz (Lynn) of Bismarck; and his grandchildren, Christian Schaeffer (Brianna), Henry Schaeffer, Parker Ogden, Sasha Fulghum, Tasia Richter (Devin), Brier Brandt (Robbie Westby) and Brody Brandt (Melissa). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
