He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Hartwig and Pauline Hartwig (Bonnett); his son James; and his siblings, Betty Frank (Herb), Bob Hartwig (Donna) and Keith Hartwig.
He is survived by: his wife Donna of Beulah; his children, Stacey Grunhovd (Mark) of Beulah, Mark Hartwig of Beulah, Shawn Hartwig (Sarah) of Kearney, MO, Perry Hartwig (Sara) of Fargo, ND and Shannon Jongeward (Brian) of Grand Forks, ND; his grandchildren, Cory Grunhovd (Audra), Ashley Njaa (Dusty), Kasey Hartwig, Emily Hartwig, Austin Lamb, Brady Jongeward and Bailey Jongeward; his great grandchildren, Rayelle, Ronan, Raidyn, Lanna Hartwig, Astrid, Elin and Hendrik Grunhovd; and his sisters-in-law, Eileen Heihn (Kelly) of Mandan, ND and Betty Hartwig of West Fargo, ND. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to SMC Hospice.
