He was predeceased by: his parents, John DeCoteau and Delima DeCoteau (Dionne); and his siblings, Carol DeMontigny and Dave DeCoteau Sr.. He is survived by: his children, Dennis Jr. DeCoteau (Natasha Short) of Belcourt, John DeCoteau of Belcourt, Michelle Olson (Grant) of Wenatchee, WA and Patricia Pemble of Fargo; his grandchildren, Destin (Amsedel), Westin, Keeli, Caden, Nyalee, Jonathan, Wyatt, Sydney, Madison, Ayesha and Micah; his great grandchildren, Isabelle, Lenna and Kasin; and his siblings, Don DeCoteau, Dale DeCoteau, Eva Houle, John DeCoteau, Andy DeCoteau, Jean DeCoteau and Anita DeCoteau.
