He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, Russell Hanson of Argusville and Arnold Rieniets (Pug) of Fargo; his godfather Wally Westrick; and his uncle Tino Navarro. He is survived by: his spouse Trisha Johnson; his granddaughter Payton; his parents, Steve Hanson and Diane Hanson of Argusville; his children, Gage Hanson and Payton Hanson; his brothers, Brent Hanson (Laura) of Gardner and Eric Hanson (Carla) of Argusville; his niece Kalyn Fraser (Matt Moen); his nephew Ryan McGarry (Meghan); his children, Mason, Mia, Matthew McGarry, Camdyn, Carter, Eleanor Hanson of Argusville and Dolores Corley of Fargo; his godmother Donna Westrick of Fargo; his son Kaden; and also, Gavin and Taylor Hanson. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to be sent to an education fund established for Robert's children at the Harwood State Bank in Harwood, ND.
